Kansas City’s Theatrical Equipment Company Since 1981
XS Lighting & Sound is a multifaceted sales, design, installation, rental, and production company located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Since 1981, we have been creating visual solutions and integration that employ a wide range of media, from effect and architectural lighting to themed events involving conception and execution of the entire project, as well as complete audio systems design and integration.
Founded by Rick McConnell, XS has grown from a theatrical lighting specialist into a comprehensive AV company serving theaters, schools, houses of worship, corporate venues, and event organizers across Kansas City and nationwide. Our showroom at 1632 Broadway Boulevard, directly across from the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, serves as both our office and a working demo space where clients can see and compare equipment before purchasing or renting.
We are proud members of ARA (American Rental Association), ESTA (Entertainment Services and Technology Association), IES (Illuminating Engineering Society), and USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology).
"We don't care how big or small you are. We want to implement what you want within your budget as painlessly as possible."Rick McConnell, Owner
